“Texas GameDay,” the Longhorn Network’s football pre-game show, will originate from a new location this season.
Find the LHN gang at East 23rd Street and Robert Dedman Drive, near Gate 25 at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, starting Sept. 12.
The updated “Texas GameDay” set features a vintage Airstream trailer. Broadcasts begin two and a half hours before each home game.
“The new location allows us to even further illuminate the experience of Texas football and directly engage with fans on game day,” said Tom McCollum, LHN’s coordinating producer. “We are still able to bring viewers into the stadium and provide a unique vantage point with the sideline flex-set, while also having more interaction with fans outside the gates prior to the game.”
The show features LHN host Lowell Galindo, as well as analysts David Thomas, Vince Young and Ricky Williams, contributor Kasey Studdard and reporter Jane Slater.
With college football season just around the corner, the Longhorn Network today rolled out a slate of new commercials to promote its offerings.
The Austin-based cable network created the four ads featuring Charlie Strong, Shaka Smart, Colt McCoy, Jordan Shipley and Roger Clemens in collaboration with Preacher, a locally based ad agency. They were filmed in the Hill Country.
“We wanted to build upon the spirit of last year’s award-winning ‘All the Live Long Day’ campaign by incorporating head coaches and more Longhorn legends that fans love,” said Jill Husak, LHN’s director of marketing. “These folks brought authenticity and personality to the campaign, while the fans’ passion on set brought The 41st Acre to life. Longhorn fans will enjoy seeing the coaches and legends in unexpected and fun ways.”
DirecTV is the latest carrier to pick up the Austin-based Longhorn Network.
The satellite provider added LHN to its lineup today.
Customers in Texas who have the Choice package or higher can find it on Channel 677. Outside Texas, subscribers must get DirecTV’s Sports Pack to see LHN.
The deal, announced late last year, marks a big win for the network, which is operated by ESPN as part of a 20-year, $300 million contract with the University of Texas. DirecTV had been one of the last big holdouts to pick up LHN, which launched in 2011.
Other carriers that offer LHN include Time Warner Cable, Grande Communications, Google Fiber, AT&T U-verse, Verizon FiOS and Dish Network.
