The new TV Land comedy series “Nobodies” premiered Monday at SXSW and the show’s executive producer Melissa McCarthy knew just how to celebrate. The comedian grabbed the wheel of a branded vehicle bearing the show’s name and took the cast for a quick spin.

Showrunner Michael McDonald explained how those very normal type of things helped inspire the show’s writers.

“They wrote themselves as themselves using their real lives and their real friends who all happen to be in various stages of fame,” McDonald said. “And they’ve all come to participate in this show and it’s pretty exciting.”

McCarthy also shared her favorite part of the festival while on the red carpet.

“I love South by Southwest because I think it’s really for the creatives,” McCarthy said. “And I think it’s for the people not doing the standard run-of-the-mill shows that you plug in the numbers, there’s a formula to it.”
