Sharyl Attkisson took a big risk by leaving network news, but it’s a gamble that appears to have paid off.

The former CBS correspondent now hosts “Full Measure,” a Sunday morning political show airing on stations nationwide owned by Maryland-based Sinclair Broadcast Group.

The program kicked off its second season this fall.

Here in Central Texas, where the show airs at 10 a.m. on CBS Austin, “Full Measure” is doing especially well. In fact, showrunners say Austin has been one of Attkisson’s top-performing markets.

Among viewers ages 25-54, the demographic most advertisers crave, ratings have doubled year over year and “Full Measure” is either tying or beating its more-established competitors – “Face the Nation,” “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and “Fox News Sunday” – many weeks.

“Season one of ‘Full Measure’ proved that we could bring honest reporting to stories that much of the mainstream media ignores,” executive producer Batt Humphreys said. “Season two will be even bigger. We have a lineup of compelling new stories and correspondents that will make the show must-see TV on Sundays.”

Topics already tackled so far this season include allegations of bias in media coverage of the presidential campaign, as well as the validity of political polling. Attkisson also scored an interview with Donald Trump.

“We live in dangerous times,” said Sinclair vice president of news Scott Livingston. “The kind of reporting that Sharyl and her team are doing is not just interesting, it’s essential.”
