UT games will shift this year to the Austin Radio Network, which owns 104.9 The Horn, Classic 105.3, 98.5/99.3 KOKE-FM and Comedy 1260 AM.
Each Texas State broadcast will feature a pre-game and post-game show, according to 1300 The Zone. The station will also air a “Bobcat Minute” segment each weekday.
“This gets two recognizable names together to sell Texas State University,” said Texas State Athletics Director Larry Teis. “Having Texas State in the Austin market on a recognized sports talk station is great not only for the athletics department, but for the university as well. This is an example of the types of win-win partnerships that we hoped to create when we moved to the FBS.”
The first game to air will be this Saturday, when Texas State’s football team takes on Florida State. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
“We couldn’t be happier about teaming up with Texas State,” said Patrick Davis, senior vice president of programming for iHeartMedia Austin, owner of The Zone. “With a football team that was bowl-eligible last season and an up-and-coming basketball program, the future is very bright for the Bobcats and we’re excited to go on the ride with them.”
